Why Ayurvedic preparations take time, and what to realistically expect
The most common message we get from a new customer is some version of: I have been using this for a week and I cannot see anything yet. It is a fair thing to ask, and the honest answer is that a week is usually too early.
Skin runs on a four-week cycle
Skin cells form at the base of the epidermis and take roughly four weeks to reach the surface and shed — longer as you get older. Anything working on tone, texture or marks is working on cells that have not surfaced yet. You are not looking at the result of this week's routine; you are looking at the result of last month's.
That is why we suggest four weeks as the minimum honest trial for a face product, and why a two-day verdict tells you almost nothing.
Hair runs on a longer one
Scalp condition — flaking, itch, general comfort — can shift within a couple of weeks. Hair growth cannot. Hair grows about a centimetre a month, and a follicle disturbed today shows the consequence months later. Anyone promising visible growth in days is selling something other than biology.
Why results vary so much between people
Two people can use the same oil for the same period and report completely different outcomes. That is not a formulation failure — it is the number of variables involved:
- Consistency. Twice a week for eight weeks beats daily for ten days, every time.
- Climate. A humid coastal summer and a dry northern winter are different environments for skin.
- What else you are using. A gentle herbal cleanser will not undo a harsh actives routine layered on top.
- Sleep, water, diet, stress. Unglamorous, and they matter more than most products do.
What we will not tell you
We do not promise a fixed outcome in a fixed number of days, and we are wary of anyone who does. We also will not claim our products treat a medical condition. If you are dealing with diagnosed eczema, psoriasis, alopecia or persistent acne, the right first step is a qualified practitioner — not a face wash. The same applies if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or buying for a child.
What is reasonable to expect
Within a couple of weeks: how a product feels, whether it suits you, whether your skin is calmer or your scalp less itchy. Within four to eight: gradual change in tone, texture and condition. Beyond that: the compounding effect of a routine you actually keep to.
And if something is not working after a fair trial, stop using it. A product that suits your friend need not suit you, and persisting with something your skin dislikes is not patience — it is just irritation with extra steps.
